Core Learning Areas

Our curriculum covers five key areas, each carefully woven into our daily and weekly routines to create a well-rounded learning experience.

Letters & Phonics

We introduce one or two letters each week using a multi-sensory approach. Children see, say, sing, and trace each letter to build strong letter recognition and phonics skills.

  • Letter of the week activities
  • Letter sounds and phonemic awareness
  • Alphabet songs and rhymes
  • Sand tracing & letter crafts
  • Beginning sound matching games
  • Introduction to sight words

Numbers & Early Math

Mathematics comes alive through counting games, manipulatives, and real-world problem solving. We build a solid number sense that prepares children for formal math instruction.

  • Counting 1โ€“20 and beyond
  • Number recognition and writing
  • Patterns and sorting
  • Shapes and spatial reasoning
  • Comparing: more, less, equal
  • Simple addition and subtraction concepts

Science Exploration

We nurture natural curiosity through age-appropriate science experiments and nature exploration. Children learn to observe, predict, and discover the wonders of the world around them.

  • Seasonal nature studies
  • Simple cause-and-effect experiments
  • Weather observation and tracking
  • Plant life cycles and gardening
  • Animals and habitats
  • Sink/float, magnets, and more

Kindergarten Readiness

Beyond academics, we focus on the whole child โ€” building the social, emotional, and executive function skills that teachers say matter most for kindergarten success.

  • Following two- and three-step directions
  • Listening skills and attention span
  • Fine motor skills (cutting, writing grip)
  • Independence and self-help skills
  • Classroom routines and expectations
  • Emotional regulation strategies

Creative Arts

Art, music, and dramatic play are not extras โ€” they are essential! Creative expression develops language, fine motor skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

  • Process-based art projects
  • Music, movement, and rhythm
  • Dramatic play and storytelling
  • Thematic crafts tied to curriculum
  • Dance and gross motor play
  • Show & Tell presentations

Social-Emotional Learning

We weave character education into every part of our day, teaching children to identify feelings, show kindness, resolve conflicts peacefully, and develop a heart for serving others.

  • Feelings identification and expression
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Friendship and cooperation
  • Gratitude and empathy
  • Monthly service projects
  • Faith-inspired values of love and kindness

Our Teaching Philosophy

We believe children learn best through play, exploration, and loving relationships. Every lesson is hands-on, developmentally appropriate, and full of joy.

  • Intentional Play-Based Learning

Every center, activity, and game is carefully designed with a clear learning objective. Play is how children learn, and we take it seriously!

  • Repetition & Spiral Review

Concepts are introduced, practiced, and revisited throughout the year. This spiral approach ensures deep, lasting understanding.

  • Multi-Sensory Instruction

We engage all five senses โ€” children touch, move, sing, draw, and experience concepts rather than just hearing about them.

  • Differentiated Instruction

Every child is unique. We observe each learner's strengths and needs, adapting activities to challenge and support every child at their level.

  • Consistent, Predictable Routines

Children thrive with structure. Our daily routine is consistent and predictable, giving children a sense of safety and ownership of their school day.

  • Family Partnership

Parents and caregivers are our partners. Regular communication and take-home activities help learning continue at home every day.

Weekly Learning Themes

Each week is organized around a letter of the alphabet and a connecting theme that ties all subject areas together into a cohesive, immersive experience.

Letter of the Week

We travel through the alphabet at a pace of 1โ€“2 letters per week, using a letter-themed name, books, songs, crafts, and snacks to make each letter memorable.

Literature Connection

Every week features carefully selected picture books that connect to our letter, theme, and character education goals โ€” reading aloud every single day.

Thematic Units

Throughout the year, we explore themes like Seasons, Animals, Community Helpers, and Outer Space โ€” connecting all subjects into a cohesive unit of study.

Progress & Assessment

We use informal, observation-based assessments to track each child's growth and share progress with families through regular check-ins and end-of-semester reports.
